Strengthen Material and Field-Based Education...Cooperation to foster global fashion talents

Promote industrial linkage programs such as fabric support and overseas factory tours

Jung Woo-Bina Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Bok-hwa) and Konkuk University College of Arts and Design (Director Shin Ji-ho) joined hands to cultivate talents in the clothing and fashion industry and cooperate in research.

 

On July 1, the two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in education and research in the clothing and fashion industry in the professors' conference room on the 4th floor of Konkuk University's Arts and Culture Center.

 

This agreement is designed to promote joint development and achievement through mutual cooperation between the two institutions in education and research. The main contents of cooperation include ▲ joint planning and operation of talent training programs ▲ human resource and information exchange and advisory cooperation ▲ promotion of education and research and other cooperation projects ▲ cooperation under mutual consultation.

 

Jungwoo Vina is a corporation in charge of Jungwoo Group's global business and has grown by collaborating with global brands such as Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Victoria's Secret, Pink, and Gap. More than 500 new materials are being developed every year, and differentiated material competitiveness such as functionality, eco-friendliness, and special tea fabric is being strengthened.

 

Jungwoo Group (Chairman Oh Byung-chul) is a fabric company that has grown since the establishment of a knit factory in Korea in 1982 and is currently operating production bases in Korea, Vietnam, and Guatemala, developing and producing fabrics for global fashion brands.

CEO Lee Bok-hwa said, "We signed this agreement because we want to help students grow into talented people who will lead the textile and fashion industry as well as school development."

 

"Students need to understand the characteristics of materials while touching and handling various materials to grow into good designers," he said. "We will provide the fabric needed for students' assignments or projects, and provide an opportunity to check the materials needed for each season."

 

In addition, CEO Lee emphasized the importance of field experience. "It will be of great help to students if they experience not only the fabric production process but also the overall textile industry such as dyes, dyes, and chemicals through a factory tour," he said. "We want to provide a place where sales professionals and students working in industrial sites can communicate comfortably to convey actual business processes and stories of the field."

Choi Sun-young, a professor of costume design at Konkuk University, said, "Thank you for your interest in nurturing the younger students. As design classes and material-related classes are operated together, it will be very helpful if a field trip program is carried out so that students can experience the field."

 

"It is significant in that you can directly experience industrial field experiences that are difficult to convey only through classes," he said. "Kongkuk University College of Arts and Design has high competitiveness in the design field, and students are growing through a solid curriculum by learning practical skills, theory, and marketing in a balanced way from the first grade."

 

Professor Choi said, "We expect to provide more diverse opportunities to students through cooperation with Jung Woo-bin. We hope that opportunities for students to experience and grow industrial sites will be expanded through continuous industry-academia cooperation in the future."
